Subject: Shalom from Israel

Shalom everyone,

Just a quick update from Jerusalem. Hebrew classes are going well. I took a hike with some friends in Wadi Qelt yesterday. It is quite a beautiful dry river canyon. We hiked down it, passed St. George's Monastery, and walked to Jericho. It was a lot of fun. On the ride back to Jerusalem it began raining. Thank God that we had finished our hike before the rain. We could have been seriously injured by flash floods. Attached are some pictures from the hike. Picture 1 is the view of Jericho from the beginning of our hike, in the left of the picture is Wadi Qelt. Picture 2 is in the bottom of the canyon. In picture 3 are ruins and a water conduit. Picture 4 is St. George's Monastery. Picture 5 is the canyon between the monastery and Jericho. Picture 6 is Jericho near the end of the wadi. I was very tired by the end, but I had fun.

I hope all is well with you,

Michael
