Subject: Israel's Independence Day
Shalom,
Last Wednesday at sunset began Israel's Independence day. It has been 60 years since Israel's independence and 40 years since the reunification of Jerusalem. That night a friend and I walked down to the celebration on Yafo Street. The area was very crowded and there was a big stage with bands playing. We met some other friends and walked around until the light show began. As part of the light show many pictures from the modern history of Israel were projected onto the buildings. There were also a lot of fireworks. I enjoyed it.
The next day a group of us went to see the air show over Hebrew University's Givat Ram Campus. The Israel Museum was free that day, so we got seats overlooking the valley where the show took place. There were stunt planes, paratroopers, helicopters, and fighter jets. I took a lot of videos. After that we walked through the modern art exhibit. Next some of us walked through one of the parks. There were many many people barbecuing there. Later that day we had our own barbecue. It was a good day.
God bless you all,
Michael |
